FREE MONEY!: PCC Scholarship

The Future Connect Scholarship is an initiative of the Mayor's Office and Portland Community College to eliminate barriers to attending college while providing on-going support to help students once they get there (see overview for more details). I am hoping that you can help refer additional PPS students for this opportunity.

As you are aware, we have 200 scholarships available this fall at PCC. The initial application phase ended on March 31st, and we still have 20-40 slots available. We only had 18 students from PPS high schools apply plus another 42 students from Ed Options. Please work with the administration at Jefferson, Marshall, and Roosevelt plus affiliated Ed Options schools to get the word out.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Low income and/or 1st generation college
- Affiliated with a Summer Youth Connect partner (students at Jefferson, Marshall, and Roosevelt would qualify because those schools hosted Ninth Grade Counts program last summer plus many Ed Options schools are affiliated with SummerWorks)
- Graduating this year and planning to attend PCC in the fall

ACTION NEEDED
1) Encourage students to complete the 3-STEP application. The application is available online: www.pcc.edu/futureconnect
2) Help students who have started an application to complete it. (These students are highlighted in yellow on the attached spreadsheet.)

Let me know if I can be of assistance in your outreach. We will be accepting applications on a rolling admissions basis, so encourage students to APPLY TODAY!

Best,
-Reese
